I have never worked on a fair isle style pair of mittens before so it took me a couple of tries to get it right but as I am almost done with the left one, it has a really lovely pattern.

First time doing any kind of colour-work crochet and I've loved this. The pattern is clear, with both written instructions and a chart - for me, the former was most helpful for the body of the mitten and the latter for the (smaller) thumb. I'm so happy with the way they've turned out. The waistcoat stitch creates quite a thick fabric, which makes the finished mittens really warm and cosy.

Great pattern. Waistcoat stitch is tricky to get the hang of but once it clicks it creates a truly beautiful fabric and the pattern is so cute! Note, I used knit picks Peruvian highland superwash fingering instead as I think it's more "mitteny" and needed a 3.25 mm hook because of the looser tension needed for the stitch in order to get close to the gauge size. Nice little challenge and great reward!
